The Thing Remake

Well if you have not heard yet, and I’m sure you have…The Thing is set for a remake. Yet another good movie to be remade into something that, well, may or may not be good. Carpenters classic is a griping story of paranoia and good old fashion monsters. I’m sure there will be some kind of monsters in the remake, but of course you just never know. And if I sound a bit leery of this, it’s just because I am. There are enough remakes of horror movies and movies in general. I’m sure there is some kind of original idea out there that someone can use to make a movie.

Anyway this one is being done by Strike Entertainment, which took care of Dawn of the Dead remake (one of the only ones that I liked) so they might be true to the original story like they did for that one. The script will be written by “Battlestar Galactica” exec producer Ronald D. Moore. Strike partners Marc Abraham and Eric Newman will produce and the company will co-finance the remake, to which Universal owned the rights. David Foster, who produced the original film, will exec produce.
