One Eye View Productions presents their latest DVD titled Dreadful. Dreadful is a collection of interviews, movies, trailers, behind the sense, and various other shorts and tid bits from the years. One Eye View main focus on this DVD is their newest movie called, well…Dreadful. One Eye View has been around for a few years making movies for the fans and for themselves. Mostly doing shorts and smaller productions focusing on more artistic and self expression in their movies than making a living from them. Personally I must say they are doing a fine job at it!

This DVD is jam packed full of shorts, movies, trailers and other thing not normally scene on a DVD release. The team has put together a portfolio of sorts showcasing all of their work from beginning to end and some other madness in between. The DVD itself is well put together and works with various DVD players and both of the computers here at the office. That does say a lot from indie artists when it comes to making their film a reality on DVD. Sometimes they forget about the little things like regions and codecs…anyhow. The cover art for the DVD is a simple black and white/gray view of a rose. Only the petals of the rose are colored red and that goes for their latest movie as well. More of an artistic feature and they seem to be going for a simpler statement than gore for the cover. Nice touch in my opinion. Various menus are easy to navigate and they should be for this one because there is a lot of stuff to check out. Once you throw the movie prepare your self for about 2 hours of good old fashion movie making.

O.k. first off the main movie on this DVD is Dreadful. Dreadful can be seen somewhat as an experimental type of short movie focusing on more of what is taken for granted and internalized, than what you seen on the screen. Meaning this one makes you think as you watch it. It’s the story of a man being hunted down and captured for no reason other than trying to help out humanity. Somewhat like the story of Christ and this one has more references to the Passion of the Christ than anything I have seen. Putting a horror like story to the Passion is a big task and can be hard to accomplish if you are not careful. But One Eye has done that in a way that actually makes you want to check out the movie if you have never seen it before. Not your average movie, but then again One Eye are not you average movie makers. They did a good job with this one and all of the scenes seem well written and well thought out. Good job on this one.

Not only is Dreadful good, but there is about 10 other shorts from the team on here as well. Many of them range from 1 minute little blurbs about life, to 10 minute decent sci-fi type flicks. The Hitcher is a good little short about serial killers out hitching rides to kill, only with a twist in the end. Others include Dead Bodies 1, 2, and 3..(more on them later), Seasons End, Psycho Zombies Trailer (looking forward to that one as well) and other interviews with some of the cast and the One Eye Crew themselves.

One of the best things about this DVD is the fact that they have almost all of their work on here so you can get a good idea of what the company is about and the range of movies they can produce. One of my personal favorites on the DVD is the Dead Bodies movies. Dead Bodies is the story of a video shop owner out to get some of the customers with an extreme horror rental. Customers that want more from their purchase get a taste of what real horror is when they are killed and then shoved into the video they tried to rent. Fun little idea and it works well since the video owner is from One Eye View. Works good for location budgets! Part two is just the same except it’s another customer and he learns of the deadly video as well. But part three gives you some background on the video tape and why the owner is doing what he’s doing. I’m not going to spoil it for you, but it’s a good idea that could really turn better if they decide to do that in the future.

Nice job!

All together Dreadful is a good DVD from One Eye View Productions that encompasses their talents and displays them all at once for the viewer to check out. Good and raw indie talent that seems to really enjoy what they do and it pays off for them in the films they put out
