We got a new review up now from AngryPrincess, this time she talks about Rest Stop. Heres is the synopsis for those that have not seen it yet, and a brief snippit of the review here too.
Synopsis:
While on a road trip with her boyfriend, a young woman (Alexander) is pulled into a cat-and-mouse game with a deranged psychopath, after her boyfriend is abducted at the rest stop
I walked into the room after my boyfriend had sneakily watched 15-20 minutes of "Rest Stop." He looked at me with a smirk and said "You're not going to like this one"- which translates to it would probably give me wicked nightmares. You see he introduced me to the movie "Deliverance" with Burt Reynolds and I haven't been the same since.So now movies that take place on old dusty dirt roads in the woods with no help around for miles terrify me – no one to hear your screams and come rescue you… you're fucked!…..

After me bitching at him for not waiting for me to watch it, we started it again. An attractive brunette Nicole and her boyfriend Jess skip out of their Texas town so they can head out to Hollywood to chase the same dream everyone else out there is after. On their way there, they pull over to quickly relieve some built up sexual tension . A beat looking yellow pick up truck comes out of nowhere and toys with them for a minute before taking off.
Nicole now has to pee really bad and absolutely refuses to cop a squat on the side of the road or behind some bush, she wants to hit the rest stop bathroom. Why, I have no clue since they are just big germ infested dirty dumps and this one was no different. I know this movie wasn't very original and they did just kinda spice up certain nasty things we've seen so many times before. Like when the guy in the beat up pick up truck plays with them- Jeepers Creepers has that along with the movie Monster Man and Wolf CreeK had that nasty man who liked to make people become "A head on a stick."
Many other flicks have the same cat and mouse mind fuck game going on But it was still scary to me. If I was that girl I would be outta my fuckin mind in 5 minutes flat. I think that's why this movie scared me, I kept thinking to myself what if I was in her shoes dealing with this maniac. I'd be a basketcase who couldn't function let alone think straight.
Certain things are sketchy which confused me with the thought of "Is she hallucinating? Or are they ghosts of this man's previous victims?" Flashbacks of this man torturing people made my stomach turn and tongue twitch.I would and have recommended this movie to several people who I thought might like it and anxiously wait to hear their opinion of what made me put my plans of taking a bus trip to visit the famous haunted Waverly Hills Asylum on hold for the time being. I know I'm such a puss!
