Synopsis:
Filmed on location in Chicago in HD video for less than most productions spend on catering, The Landlord features a smart screenplay, impressive performances from some of the city’s top stage actors, and surprisingly good effects for its budget.  With its mix of gore and laughs, comparisons to Shaun of the Dead and Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners will be inevitable.  But The Landlord also harkens back to old-school supernatural thrillers like Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, when character development mattered as much as characters’ dismemberment. By turns hilarious and disturbing, gut-churning and heartwarming, The Landlord should prove a quirky standout in an independent horror scene glutted with backyard zombie flicks and cookie-cutter slashers.
