laid to rest poster1 Laid To Rest (2009:Dry County Films)I just returned from the first public screening of LAID TO REST, an incredibly bloody and gory film from the sick mind of Robert Hall, starring Bobbi  Sue Luther as the girl who awakens in a casket clueless to who she is and how she got there.   She immediately sees a man violently and viciously killed by an incredibly brutal killer wearing a chrome skull face mask.   She beats feet and runs into a kind country gentlemen named Tucker, played by Kevin Gage, who takes her home to nurse her where she meets his wife, Cindy, played by TERMINATOR: SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES’ Lena Heady.  The killer finds them and well… let’s just say for the sake of not spoiling the film,  spends the rest of the film in pursuit of The Girl killing pretty much anyone and everyone that happens along.  The killer, Chrome Skull, is vicious.  He never speaks and his face is never revealed as it’s always hidden behind the chrome skull mask. He has a video camera mounted to his shoulder to allow him to video his carnage. He is not a slasher, but rather a serial killer and according to the internet report Stephen, played by Sean Whalen, finds online sends the tapes to the police.

Now, that’s all you need to know about the story.   Erik Porn and Almost Human, Inc handled the special effects and gore kills.   The large saw-backed knife seen inthe picture to the left creates very nasty kills.  I  love a film that starts bloody, stays bloody, and ends bloody and LAID TO REST does not disappoint.   Victims are decapitated, disemboweled, and dismembered throughout the film.  The kills are up, close, and personal.  My personal favorite involves the knife run through the victim’s head just above his bottom jaw to remove the head while leaving the bottom jaw attached.   I went to the film expecting blood and gore and was not let down.

This story does not attempt to explain why Chrome Skull kills, how he began, or much more about his background.  You learn that he’s killed many victims before he begins killing in Laid To Rest.   The story is well written, stays very focused, has some very heart-rending moments, and over all leads the viewer to genuinely caring for the victims while despising the villain.

Finally, the acting is all very good.  I enjoyed the performances from the entire cast.

This film comes out on DVD April 28th and I strongly recommend you buy or rent this one.   If you like a film with a decent count of brutal murders this film will not disappoint.

Top notch gore effects, but everything else is bad.The acting was bad, characters & scenarios are annoying.Nothing special about the story.Another film that relies in gore. Some horror fans will ignore the rest & enjoy the death kills, but a lot of horrr fans will not be adding this to the dvd collection.

Actually this film has gotten far more good reviews than bad. And I know many, many horror fans including me that have already added it to our collection.
