Patrick Rea and crew from SenoReality Pictures is working to finish up their first feature film Nailbiter. But don’t confuse this as their entry into horror. They have actually completed quite a few short films even some award winners since they founded back in March 2002 and put down roots in Lawrence, Kansas City.
If you visit their website you can read about each of their projects and even get some sneak peeks on youtube. Horror Society was lucky enough to get a few of their most recent films for review. They have a knack for originality in their story telling and offer a little something for everyone.
Mrs. Brumett’s Garden – 20 min
Things aren’t necessarily as they seem with this movie. As it begins I almost feel like I am watching a lifetime movie – it’s a beautiful day and old Mrs. Brumett is in the garden tending to her flowers. But really she is old and maybe senile and talking to the fairies something her husband obviously can no longer tolerate. The horror here tends to lean a little more towards the emotional side but they still make sure you get your fix with a bit of gore.
Now That Your Dead – 14 min
If you have sex in a horror movie you are gonna die so we already know something bad is going down in this film. The movie starts with a couple in bed a man and his mistress but their secret rendezvous is busted when the wife returns home early from a work trip. Without giving too much away I will just say the wife finds it’s a bit harder to “dump the garbage” than she thought it would be. A nice creep-show feel to this movie and more than 1 twist you may not be expecting.
Do Not Disturb – 15min.
You can’t really get away with anything nowadays because somebody is always watching. The mystery in this film is just who is watching our lead killer. Hiding out in a hotel after a crime of passion and just wanting to be left alone our killer starts to become unnerved after a barrage of calls and fan notes come sliding under his door. With the sirens growing closer and louder the killer has a fight or flight decision to make — but does he really know what he is jumping into or who he is jumping with?
Next Caller – 15 min
The shock joke at Quake Radio 98.9 is ready to interview his next special guest a woman named Amy in the field of spirits and paranormal. As they discuss Amy’s ability or gift as she call it she insists that God tells her to do the work she is doing. The DJ clearly doesn’t believe in the man upstairs stating if God did exists the world wouldn’t have to endure such things as war and Hannah Montana. The DJ wants Amy to to convince him of her abilities. You know the rule be careful what you ask for – well our DJ obviously didn’t and ultimately receives a very real understanding of Amy’s gift.
SenoReality’s shorts are grossly delicious appetizers so I have no doubt that their feature film Nailbiter will make for a wonderful full course meal – that is if you still have an appetite. To learn more about their past, present and future projects please visit them at:
