The Exorcist

Known as one of the scariest movies of all time, The Exorcist is something that I had always wanted to watch and I am so glad I did. I am a massive horror movie fan and I love anything that can scare me, creep me out or shock me. Alas, not a lot of movies are properly able to do this with me. I am not afraid to admit that, for the first time, of all of the movies I have watched, The Exorcist has succeeded in shocking me, in creeping me out and actually scaring me at the same time. Unfortunately these days, not many horror movies are so great and not a lot of them have any love or detail in them or manage to actually do it’s job to scare you but with The Exorcist, it truly is a remarkable horror masterpiece. This is what The Last Exorcism should have been! Everything from the acting to the directing is simply perfect to the last detail. The story and the plot is pretty basic but that’s the beauty of The Exorcist, sometimes less is more and The Exorcist is an example of just that. The greatest thing about The Exorcist is the truly frightening story it tells of how a mother battles to figure out what has happened to her daughter and how her daughter is slowly becoming possessed by a demon. Another thing that I adored about The Exorcist was the exceptionally brilliant cast as they played their characters fantastically, they really couldn’t have done any better if they tried. Ellen Burstyn was brilliant as Chris and there’s nothing you could fault about her acting skills, Jason Miller was also fantastic as his character Father Damien but the real actress who completely stole the show with her magnificent performance as possessed Regan was Linda Blair. Her character went from sweet to evil within hours and she had the hard job of making the audience terrified and convinced that she was really possessed and she succeeded with ease.
