Chain Letter Arrives on Blu-ray/DVD February 1, 2011

Chain Letter was buried underneath the weight of 2010’s October horror releases. Movies like Paranormal Activity II, Saw 3D, Let Me In, and My Soul To Take dominated the horror genre for the month of October. Also, the release of Hatchet II, another independent feature, swallowed any hope of Chain Letter being a success. Chain Letter received a limited release and, after only grossing about $140,000 in its first week, was promptly torn out of movie theatres. Being that only 14,000 people saw this independent feature, which was actually shelved for several months, it was marginally forgotten about.

Luckily, it was still picked up for distribution and will be seeing a Blu-ray/DVD release date of February 1, 2011. This gives horror fans the the chance to view something that was overlooked, as long as you like teen-horror films that is. From reviews that I’ve read, Chain Letter is your predictable PG-13 horror film and is pretty generic. With this in mind, I’m probably still going to pick up my copy. Will you?

Chain Letter stars some girl from Twilight, a voice actor, the voice of Chucky, and…Bai Ling? Really? The synopsis reads: “Six friends are pitched against each other when they are sent via email and text message, a chain letter, which if not passed on, sends a psycho-killer after them. Their loyalties to each other are tested when they must pass the letter to each other, or not at all, and if they break the chain, they lose their life.”
