Horror Sells: Your Weekly Horror Sales

Nothing too ground breaking going on at the Box Office. I think this will be the last week I report on Black Swan and The Rite. Keep an eye on I Saw The Devil and Bereavement. These two independent, limited released are slowly creeping up the line. Good for them!

  • 3 1 Battle: Los Angeles $18,977,000 (Total: $64,979,000)
  • 6 3 Red Riding Hood $9,406,000 (Total: $28,113,000)
  • 9 7 Beastly $4,143,000 (Total: $23,128,000)
  • 15 12 I Am Number Four $1,388,000 (Total: $52,900,000)
  • 25 20 Black Swan $264,000 (Total: $106,394,000)
  • 32 46 The Rite $158,000 (Total: $32,907,000)
  • 51 62 I Saw The Devil $29,000 (Total: $68,000)
  • 64 100 Bereavement $15,000 (Total: $43,000)
  • 79 72 Black Death $5,000 (Total: $15,000)

Let Me In finally fell off the Top 30 DVD chart. The Walking Dead premiers to strong numbers and Saw 3D barely hangs on.

  • 2 The Walking Dead: Season 1 $5,833,000
  • 22 20 Paranormal Activity 2 $791,000 (Total: $12,867,000)
  • 30 28 Saw 3D: The Final Chapter $468,000 (Total: $9,457,000)

With Face Off being over for now, and Vampire Diaries and Supernatural being on a short spring hiatus, there’s not much going on here. Although, a new season of Fact or Faked has premiered on Syfy to decent ratings.

  • Ghost Hunters – 1,601,000
  • Being Human – 1,200,000
  • Fact Or Faked: Paranormal Files – 1,189,000

Interesting Fact: Red Riding Hood was produced on a budget of $42,000,000. As of right now, its made a little over $28,000,000 just $14,000,000 shy of making back its budget. I’m sure it will make this back and a little more in the coming weeks. Red Riding Hood stars Amanda Seyfried, an actress who played second to Megan Fox in Jennifer’s Body. Produced on a budget of $16,000,000, Jennifer’s Body has only grossed $21,000,000 including DVD sales. So, which leading lady do you think is the real winner?
