Synopsis: Fred Vogel’s August Underground
Imagine walking down the street and finding an unmarked VHS tape. Curiosity peaked, you take it home and pop it in. What starts off as two men screwing around with a video camera quickly transforms into an ultra-realistic torture sequence where the unidentified psychopaths tape their exploits as the torment and violate a woman tied to a chair. The sodomy of your morals continues throughout the entirety of the footage, while subtly revealing the killer’s shattered pasts via the interactions with the victims and each other.The most shockingly realistic portrait of a serial killer’s existence is FRED VOGEL’S AUGUST UNDERGROUND.
Synopsis: August Underground’s MORDUM
The sequel to the cult classic August Underground, is a character study in the sick: an amoral, putrid, masturbatory fantasy. The found footage contained in August Underground’s MORDUM documents extreme deviant sexuality, torture, and murder, while unfolding a classic tale of a man and woman in love. However, the woman cannot give up her other lover, who also happens to be her younger brother. Exploiting the trio of killers and their deviant ways with issues such as child abuse, incest, rape, and their effects on the human psyche, August Underground’s MORDUM will vomit all over you and leave you for dead.

The final film in the August Underground trilogy, PENANCE shows the dark decline of the two nameless killers as they continue to videotape the madness along their path of destruction. PENANCE captures the raw emotion of every moment caught in the camera’s eye, scorching your soul with brutal depravity and a perverse sadness that will linger much longer than the disturbing visions on the screen.
About Musical Guest NECROPHAGIA:
Necrophagia was one of the first death metal bands. The band was assembled in Wellsville, Ohio in 1983. Necrophagia was a popular group in the underground metal “tape trading” scene of the early-to-mid-1980s. Featuring hard-driving metal and growling vocals, Necrophagia became a pioneer in the fledgling extreme metal genre. Their first full-length album, Season of the Dead, was recorded and released in 1987 and their new album ‘Deathtrip 69’ is out now! Members: Killjoy DeSade – black blood vomiting and corpse shrieks, Boris Randall – necromantic 6 string suicide, Damien Matthews – desecrator of goats blood and cloven hooves, and Shawn Slusarek – tombstones and witchfyre.

About the Event: Severed Sinema
The Sherman Theater’s Severed Sinema is a monthly horror event that showcases classic horror movie double features on the historic Sherman Theater screen along with live bands, local horror filmmakers, artists and special guests. The event takes place at the non-profit Sherman Theater in the heart of the Pocono Mountains, Stroudsburg PA. For nearly 3 years Severed Sinema has been the region’s best and only monthly horror & cult cinema show. With over 80 films screened and dozens of local filmmakers & artists featured, Severed Sinema is becoming a household name for the region’s horror audience and movie goers alike. The horror event was created by Earl Kessler, a volunteer artist for the Sherman Theater, in 2008.
