ELI ROTH will be honored November 19th, 2011 with The Shocking Filmmaker of The Decade Award at the 5th Shockfest Film Festival. The Award will be presented at Raleigh Studios Chaplin Theater at 9:00 p.m, followed by a screening of his Cabin Fever.
We are honoring Eli Roth, not just for his genius work as a writer, director, producer, and actor, but because what he has done has forever changed the stigmas and formats as to how horror films can be made to come to life. Taking a major risk and even being shot down several times for what he wanted to happen with Cabin Fever, makes Eli Roth one of the greats. Horror forums and film reviewers alike can’t deny that his work on Cabin Fever and Hostel (parts 1 & 2) has greatly disturbed the world of horror fanatics; thus making him a no-brainer for the SHOCKING Filmmaker of the Decade Award. Robert “Corpsy” Rhine (Girls and Corpses Magazine’s Deaditor-In-Chief) will present Roth with the Golden Spiked Head at Shockfest’s closing ceremonies Nov 19th.
Festival director Guil Claveria describes SHOCKFEST as, “A festival to DIE for. After receiving the award (in his name) The Eli Roth Shocking Filmmaker of the Year Award will be presented annually at The Shockfest Film Festival to horror filmmakers who most deserve this shocking honor.
Immediately following the screening of Cabin Fever, everyone will be moving over to The Hard Rock Hollywood for the Shockfest Film Award presentations, followed by The Miss Shockfest Beauty Pageant.
