Horror Sales: Prometheus, True Blood, and Gone

Box office numbers, DVD sales, and television viewership for the week of June 8 to June 14, 2012.

I started tracking films I normally wouldn’t have included on the list just for the Hell of it. Being that Prometheus is becoming such a global hit, I included it along with Snow White & The Huntsman and The Avengers. Scifi/fantasy is definitely running the pack, but horror films are still on the charts.

2 Prometheus $68,658,000

3 1 Snow White & The Huntsman $33,318,000 (Total: $108,797,000)

4 2 Men In Black 3 $20,673,000 (Total: $142,687,000)

5 3 The Avengers $16,838,000 (Total: $577,888,000)

11 8 Dark Shadows $2,156,000 (Total: $74,532,000)

14 9 Chernobyl Diaries $1,349,000 (Total: $17,460,000)

34 32 The Cabin In The Woods $106,000 (Total: $41,334,000)

42 25 Piranha 3DD $61,000 (Total: $339,000)

50 56 The Raven $24,000 (Total: $15,827,000)

Who knew True Blood was that popular? The fourth season DVD set sits pretty at the #1 spot on the DVD Top 30 Chart. Gone debuts at #3 with a little over $1mill made…just as much as it made in theaters! *bu-dun-dun!*

1 True Blood Season Four $21,515,000

8 3 The Woman In Black $1,384,000 (Total: $4,203,000)

10 Gone $1,283,000

11 9 Underworld: Awakening $1,081,000 (Total: $12,773,000)

12 8 Chronicle $972,000 (Total: $6,305,000)

17 18 Thor $738,000 (Total: $26,091,000)

22 17 Men In Black $539,000 (Total: N/A)

24 19 Men In Black 2 $450,000 (Total: N/A)

30 26 The Devil Inside $265,000 (Total: $1,460,000)

True Blood returns with a low rating compared to last season, but still good numbers none the less. The Killing goes up in viewers and Teen Wolf stays the same. Fact or Faked, sadly, hits a season low.

Supernatural (rerun) – 870,000

Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files – 717,000

The Vampire Diaries (rerun) – 472,000
