BEFORE THE MASK SPOILER: HOW LESLIE VERNON RETURNS

Warning: There be spoilers ahead!

The underground cult classic Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon ended with Leslie’s unfortunate death at the hands of his first ‘survivor girl.’ The movie was intended to be a one-off feature, but I don’t think anyone on board realized how much of a success it would become. Creators have already officially announced that a prequel or sequel, Before The Mask: The Return of Leslie Vernon, is in the works. A few promotional videos have been released too, mostly in support of the Kickstarter campaign to help bring the film to life.

But how would Leslie Vernon return if the new film is indeed a sequel? If you remember, Leslie’s head and brain were crushed with barn equipment at the end of Behind The Mask. Well, the latest Kickstarter video shows how Leslie was able to fake his own death. It’s…not all that creative…and really not that funny, which makes me worry about the new film already. It has got to keep up with the first one or fans will be really unimpressed. Come on, David Stieve and Scott Glosserman, give us something great!

  1. It was quite clear that he was alive at the end of the movie, considering how he got up from the autopsy table in the morgue and walked up behind the coroner at the end of the credits. I never even thought to myself his head was crushed after seeing that.

    • ever heard of not ruining an entire ending for someone who hasn’t heard of it yet? also pretty sure i said, “Well, the latest Kickstarter video shows how Leslie was able to fake his own death.” and I didn’t mean that in reference to the audience.
