Barry Bostwick has had a long and diverse career in TV and film including the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show and Spin City. I caught up with him via Facebook to ask him about his upcoming movie FDR: American Badass and his involvement in horror and cult films over the years.
Horror Society: Throughout your career you’ve played a lot of parts in TV dramas, but also horror films. Were you interested in horror when you started getting into acting or did it just happen coincidentally?
Barry Bostwick: I do horror for fun and comedy for the change.
HS: Tell me about FDR: American Badass. How did you come to be a part of this film?
BB: For FDR they asked me, I said yes, I felt it was worth the gamble. Actually there was nothing really at stake, it was rude, crude and sarcastic, three of my favorite things.
HS: How do you feel about the cult status of Rocky Horror and the whole tradition associated with it? Did Glee approach you when they were doing the Rocky Horror episode or vice versa?
BB: Rocky is a blessing: good people, fans of all ages, and it’s in The Library of Congress, how bad is that?! Glee came to me, I wish I could have sung something but the kids were great and welcoming. And its always fun to be around “The Loaf”…
HS: Are you interested in working on other horror/cult films in the future?
BB: I’ll work on anything that entertains me and doesn’y bring my career to a crashing conclusion.
