Interview with Slashers Gone Wild actor Raz!

RAZ97_nWHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME AN ACTOR?

I’ve been a huge fan of films as far back as I can remember. I used to act out my favorite scenes with my brother constantly. As I got older, it just became a part of who I was.

WHEN DID YOU GET YOUR START?

I started off with drama club and high school before moving to local theater. In college I got into making parody commercials and infomercials. I also spent a LOT of time on haunted houses/trails, etc. I didn’t get my big break so to speak though until I joined up with World Parody to become Rob the Slasher.

WHY HORROR FILMS?

I’ve done acting in most other genres, but to me horror is iconic. Horror films teach us to respect fear to a certain degree. They remind us why we should check the car seat behind us when we get in, or to inspect that spooky noise in the basement. There isn’t a single thing that will happen that you won’t connect to some horror film that you saw. The greatest part about horror isn’t necessarily even the film itself, but the influence it has on your mind for days after.

DESCRIBE YOUR CHARACTER IN SLASHERS GONE WILD:

Rob The Slasher isn’t just your average psychopath, he’s much more than that.
To me he’s a social commentary on recycling and the environment in general. His number one target for death is litterbugs. While that seems silly, he believes he’s actually providing a very real service to the world. The average American citizen produces 726 kilograms of trash each year, and as a whole Americans produce 40% of the world’s trash. At the end of the day he’s a serial killer with near supernatural abilities and a big mouth, but I bet you’ll think twice before tossing that next Styrofoam cup on the ground after seeing the film!

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER ACTORS/ACTRESSES?

Do what you love. Not everyone is going to be the next big thing, or become a huge star. Just focus on the roles you enjoy and become a part of the process. In the end you’ll be rewarded with years of amazing memories just like I have.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE HORROR FILMS?

In truth I’ve enjoyed the majority of horror in general. Each film has it’s own unique flavor and I feel it’s important to celebrate that. The film Nightbreed by Clive Barker is a holy grail to me. It was the first film that made me consider “monsters” in a new way. Perhaps humanity are the monsters after all. Secondly I’d have to say the Evil Dead series. Seeing Bruce like that when I was a kid fueled me to become the actor I am now.

Raz can be seen in Slashers Gone Wild and it’s upcoming 3D sequel! Check out the link below if you would like more information on Slashers Gone Wild!
