‘Maniac’ Remake Makes its Way to Theaters and VOD

Coming off of its successful festival run, Franck Khalfoun’s Maniac remake is finally getting it’s limited theatrical and VOD premiere.  IFC Midnight has announced it will bring the remake of William Lustig’s 1980 cult splatter flick to theaters and VOD on June 21st, 2013.

Maniac is directed by Franck Khalfoun from a screenplay by Alexandre Aja and Gregory Levasseur.  It stars Elijah Wood, America Olivo, and Nora Arnezeder.

Plot Synopsis

Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.
