From The Press Release

Sanguivorous (“Kyuketsu”), the first silent Japanese vampire movie, goes for the jugular in a feeding frenzy through New York, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Hudson and Washington, DC. With live musical accompaniment by Japanese percussionist Tatsuya Nakatani and saxophonist Edward Wilkerson, Jr., this unprecedented event combines experimental filmmaking, cutting-edge contemporary music, dance theatre — and fangs.

Plot Synopsis:

A young woman suffering from mysterious physical ailments is horrified to discover that she’s descended from generations of vampires. When with her boyfriend, she struggles to control her peculiar appetite. But it’s in her blood…

Performers:

Tatsuya Nakatani (percussion), originally from Osaka, Japan, invents his own instruments to create an intense, organic sound that defies category or genre. His music is grounded in improvisation, yet it retains the sense of space and beauty found in traditional Japanese folk music. Nakatani has released nearly 50 recordings on CD.

Edward Wilkerson, Jr. (saxophone) is internationally recognized as one of the great saxophonists to come out of the Chicago music scene. Founder of the trailblazing octet 8 Bold Souls, Wilkerson has toured throughout the United States, Japan, Europe, and the Middle East. A long-time member of Chicago’s celebrated AACM (Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians), his music can be heard on over 20 recordings, including two film soundtracks.
