1999 – Kirk Alyn, who was the first screen “Superman,” passed away at the age of 88. He also appeared in the 1978 version of “Superman” playing “Lois Lane’s father,” and in the films “Beginning of the End” and “Scalps.”

1951 – Val Lewton, who produced the films “Cat People,” “The Body Snatcher” and “I Walked With a Zombie,” passed away at the age of 46.

2010 – Peter Graves, who appeared in “It Conquered the World”,  “Beginning of the End”, and “The Clonus Horror”.
