SXSW: Cinedigm Picks up horror/thriller ‘Static 3D’

SXSW logoAnother indie horror title has been picked up out of the SXSW film festival.   The U.S. rights to Todd Levin’s supernatural film Static 3D have been acquired by Cinedigm, with plans to release the film in 3D on DVD.

Deadline is reporting, Cinedigm picked up North American rights to Static, a low-budget 3D thriller directed by Todd Levin. Pic stars Milo Ventimiglia, Sarah Shahi, Sara Paxton, and William Mapother in the tale of a couple mourning the loss of their child whose lives are upturned by the arrival of a young visitor, bringing supernatural forces into their home.

The indie was shot in 3D with a custom rig to keep costs down. After an initial 2D VOD release, the plan is to release Staticin 3D on DVD.

Static 3D is directed by Todd Levin and stars Milo Ventimiglia (Kiss of the Damned), Sarah Shahi (Chicago Fire), Sara Paxton (Shark Night 3D, The Innkeeprs), and Devon Ogden (Seance: The Summoning).

Plot Synopsis

As a young novelist and his wife are coping with the loss of their child, their lives are turned upside down when a panicked girl appears at their home in the middle of the night with stories of masked intruders stalking her. That night the stalkers strike, sending the couple on an horrific game of cat and mouse, where they are forced to uncover shocking details from their past that may be the reason for the attack.
