Will we ever get THE STRANGERS II?

The Strangers was, in my opinion, one of the best horror features of 2008. Thrilling, terrifying, and everything a great horror film should be. It was also a major commercial success, making back more than 5x its original budget and a total $82,700,000 worldwide. So, obviously this means that a sequel had to be in the works, right? Exactly!

After its initial cinematic run, an announcement was made that The Strangers II would begin production in the summer of 2009. The press release also stated that Bryan Bertino would return as head writer, but Lauren Briet would take over the directors chair. It was rumored that Liv Tyler would return to the sequel in some form or fashion and the plot would follow, “a family of four who have been evicted from their home due to the economy, and are paid a visit by the same three strangers from the first film.”

Well, that report came out in 2008. For unknown reasons production was pushed way back until January 2011, when word came again that The Strangers II would begin filming soon. Even after the second announcement, production was halted and the last update came in March of 2012. Apparently, one of the producers at Rogue Pictures had read the script and it was, “great,” and that they are in the process of “getting things together.” Everyone involved with this rumored feature is hoping to get the ball rolling in Fall 2013.

But with all the set backs and delays, all the false releases of production dates, the big question still remains… Will we ever get to see The Strangers II? And do you guys even want to see a sequel at this point?
