Wes Craven addresses Scream TV series on Twitter.

Last week it was announced that MTV and Dimension Films had teamed together to film the pilot for Scream: The Television Series. Going forward with a pilot doesn’t mean the series has been picked up; more-so it’s used as a way to show executives what the series has to offer – a sample, if you will. Many people were unhappy with the decision to stick with the MTV network, but apparently enough attention was garnered that Wes Craven took to his official Twitter last night to comment on the whole matter. His words echoed what he had previously said about Scream 4 and the potential new trilogy – it all depends on the script. Here’s what he had to say:

It’s been no secret that Scream would continue in some form after the release of Scream 4, despite its disastrous box office gross. As a huge fan of the series, I’m excited to see it continue, although I’d be much happier with finishing the proposed new trilogy. I don’t know if I could get on board with a series without principal cast members Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Dewey Riley (David Arquette), and Gail Weathers (Courtney Cox). I guess I agree with Wes Crave on this one. Let’s see where the script takes me before I decide whether I’m throwing tomatoes or singing its praises.
