Back in April of 2012, I attended the first ever Blood At The Beach convention in Virginia. One of my favorite memories from the trip was being treated to a sneak peek at the upcoming Plan 9 From Outer Space remake – titled just Plan 9 – from Darkstone Entertainment and director Johnny Johnson. The clip was not even three minutes long, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and even wrote a mini-review, which you can view here.
Well, it’s been well over a year and several small articles later and Plan 9 still isn’t available to the masses. I think it had a small premiere several months ago, but I am still not-so-patiently waiting to get my hands on it. Although Edward D. Woods Jr.’s original flick was dubbed one of the worst films of all time, I assure you that Johnson’s remake is going to be far from that. If it ends up being as fantastic as I believe it will be, it will be another nail in the coffin to big Hollywood. Indie film makers can make remakes just as good as blockbuster producers.
But, I’m getting ahead of myself. For now at least I can let you see some of what I’m speaking so highly of, as the official Facebook page for Plan 9 has just released the clip that I viewed many moons ago. You can find the clip at the bottom of this post.
Plan 9 follows, “Aliens who resurrect dead humans as zombies and vampires to stop human kind from creating the Solaranite, a sort of sun-driven bomb.” This remake will follow the general plot of the original while also adding original and modern elements. Plan 9 features appearances from Brian Krause (Sleepwalkers), Mister Lobo (“Cinema Insomnia”), Matthew Ewald (“Galidor”), James D. Rolfe (“The Angry Video Game Nerd”), Monique Dupree (Bikini Bloodbath Christmas), the only original cast member to return in the remake Conrad Brooks, Addy Miller (“The Walking Dead”), director Johnny Johnson, and Angela Pritchett (Porkchop).
