‘WolfCop’ Wins the Canadian CineCoup Film Competition!

Wolf Cop image 3Alright folks, a film in development that we’ve been covering quite a bit around here has just won a major Canadian film competition.   The news was announced via Twitter less than an hour ago who the winner of the remaining top 5 films was, and the winner is…WolfCop!

Just as a recap, WolfCop was entered into the prestigious Canadian CineCoup film accelerator competition along with 91 other prospective films as a way for independent filmmakers to develop, market and finance their feature films with the help of social media.   A two minute trailer which you can see below has been filmed in which to enter the CineCoup competition in which 92 films were entered.  Filmmaking teams apply to CineCoup with a two-minute trailer then advance through a gamified selection funnel that’s designed to package their projects and build fan support on the CineCoup social web platform.  The films do not exist aside from the trailer, and if victorious, get $1 million dollars to film the project and are guaranteed a release in Canadian theaters.

Congratulations to the WolfCop team of producers, Bernie Hernando and Hugh Patterson.  A big Congrats to writer/director Lowell Dean (Interview here) and everyone else behind the scenes.

WolfCop will star Fafard.

Plot Synopsis

It’s not unusual for alcoholic cop Lou Garou to black out and wake up in unfamiliar surroundings, but lately things have taken a strange turn. Crime scenes seem oddly familiar. Lou’s senses are heightened, and when the full moon is out, he’s a rage-fueled werewolf. WOLFCOP is one cop’s quest to become a better man… One transformation at a time.
