I love discovering new movies and Facebook is the best way to do that.  I often spend my down time browsing page after page of micro-budget films.  Some look absolutely horrible while others look like they went above and beyond their budget. I ventured across the page for a web-series that is currently ongoing called The Attack of the Brain People.

I got in contact with the people behind it and they were nice enough to keep me posted with episode releases, news, and so forth for the project to post to the site.  For that I want to thank you all.  After some time I discovered that the director, Manny Serrano, had recently released a film entitled Blood Slaughter Massacre.  Surprisingly, I had seen various indie directors and actors sporting shirts for this film and decided to look in to it a little deeper.

The fine folks behind it were also nice enough to hook me up with a screener.  Sadly, it took me almost a week to watch it due to technical difficulties.  So here it is, late but in tact!

**Spoiler Alert**The film opens with a party of sorts.  The group has been drinking and some even attempt to take a little piece of love making as a bribe for a job.  Soon, the police get a noise complaint and arrive at the scene.  What they discover is one of the biggest massacres in history.  Everyone has been brutally murdered.

The two officers enter the home where one is attacked, but lives, and the murderer gets away.  We then jump ten years and a young girl has been murdered.  The two officers are now detectives and arrive on the scene.  The cop that was attacked by the murderer is now drinking to cope with his family life falling apart.  Soon another murder occurs and the detective deducts that they are both connected but is the murderer the same or is it a new killer?**Spoiler Alert**

Sometimes you come across a film that you can not determine if you like it or not.  I watched the movie and had fun but there was a lot of parts that I had to really think about.  The film honestly felt like two movies going at once.  The first half of the film felt like a crime drama with the drunk detective shambling around trying to uncover the murderer and his motives.  The second portion of the film switches gears and feels like a Slumber Party Massacre inspired slasher.

Creativity ran wild in this one but sadly the first portion of the film just seemed to drag out way too long.  There was times I honestly caught myself not paying attention and attempting to do other tasks.   I think the film would have been tons better if some of the dialogue was removed from the first section making it shorter.  However, I truly love the second portion.  It is honestly one of the greatest slasher inspired modern indie films I have ever seen.  If the first half was cut down to size it would have made this movie one hell of a horror flick.

The acting is hit and miss.  The two detectives and the final girl (who gives an amazing performance in her role) did a great job.  Sadly, the rest of the cast make their scenes hard to follow but they are great to look at.  This film is rare because all the girls in it are actually hot.  Finally, the special effects and on screen kills are actually very decent.  The special effects are nothing amazing but they do work well with the slasher style skills we do get.  Those looking for blood and gore will definitely enjoy this one.  Overall, this is a bloody tribute to slashers from yesteryear but the first half is extremely slow burning.  I recommend it but keep an open mind because it deserves at least one watch.
