HAZMAT” is an official selection of the 2013 Massachusetts Independent Film Festival!

The television crew of the “Scary Antics” hidden camera show habitually sets up innocent chumps for scary practical jokes on national television. The crew is disturbed with the cruelty on the show, but looking to please the network, they must go further each time under the pressure to bump up the ratings. For the final show of the third season, the producer and host, David, decides to do a behind-the-scenes episode.

David is approached by Adam, who, along with his girlfriend and her best friend, wants to set up Jacob on a practical joke at an abandoned chemical plant. Jacob has become obsessed with the place after his father died there. The chemical plant was the site of a horrible fire in the sixties when 138 employees died, and people now believe that the place is haunted. Looking to shake Jacob out of his obsession, his friends have planned for the show to scare Jacob and prove once for all that the place is not haunted.
Friends and crew are having a good laugh at Jacob’s expense when something goes horribly wrong. Afraid for his life after he believes his friends have been murdered by ghosts, Jacob kills a member of the crew. When he then realizes that the whole thing was a joke and that he is on national television, Jacob snaps and goes on a killing spree. Is Jacob crazy or is he possessed by the ghost of the dead employees? Trapped inside the boarded-up building with an ax- wielding maniac, this is definitely no laughing matter.
