It’s Official: ‘Sharknado’ Gets a Sequel and You Can Name it!

Sharknado - 2013

The News for SyFy’s Sharknado doesn’t want to end, It was inevitable since last week’s airing on SyFy with the social media fury that surrounded the film that a sequel would be forthcoming.  It is now confirmed that The Asylum and SyFy will be bringing a sequel to the film in 2014 and have announced a Twitter contest to name the film.

The film’s working title will be Sharknado 2 and this time, the flying sharks will attack New York City (Insert joke here).  SyFy Channel is holding a Twitter contest to name the movie. Tweet your submissions to @SyfyMovies using #Sharknado.  The network will select the best submission as the sequel’s subtitle.

According to Thomas Vitale, Syfy’s executive vp programming and original movies said: “”Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm — on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel.

What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun. We’ll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn’t want our fans to worry they wouldn’t get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year.”
