Where Are They Now? : Zach Galligan

ZachG2As most of you know, Hatchet III was released just a few months ago. One of the lead roles, Sheriff Fowler, is played by none other than Zach Galligan. It’s been years since I’ve seen Zach in anything, and I’m sure it’s been a while since you’ve seen him too. However, Zach Galligan has stayed ever present in this industry, whether it be appearing in numerous horror and scifi flicks or making guest appearances on popular television shows.

You may not recognize the name Zach Galligan right off the bat, but you will remember him after I remind you of his humble beginnings. Zach is probably most known for playing the role of Billy Peltzer in Gremlins (1984) and Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990). Come on, those movies are cult classics – everyone remembers the teenage boy running around with Gizmo on Christmas trying to stop hordes of evil, violence crazed gremlins. The franchise has recently made headlines again with talk of a remake. Could Galligan have a cameo, please?

Outside of the Gremlin series, Zach has had a pretty decent television run. In the early 90s he appeared in episodes of “Deadly Nightmares,” and “Tales From The Crypt.” At the end of the century he appeared in episodes of “Star Trek: Voyager,” and “Love Boat: The New Wave.” He kept going and in the early 2000s he guest starred in episodes of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” and “7th Heaven.”

But, hey, this is a horror website – and where would we be without mentioning all his other horror and scifi films outside of Hatchet III and Gremlin? Here’s the list! He played Mark in another popular horror franchise, Waxwork in 1988 and Waxwork 2: Lost In Time in (1992). His other appearances include The Psychic (1991), Warlock: Armageddon (1993), Cyborg 3: The Recycler (1994), Infested (2002), Legion of The Dead (2005), and Cut and Nightmares in 2010.

When he’s not acting, Zach spends his time teaching acting to others. Not much is known about him otherwise. Still, I think it’s safe to say that Zach Galligan was an 80s/90s scream king and I’m glad to see that he still lands a great role every once and a while!
