For those of you who are unaware, Sharknado 2 has officially been green lit. The SyFy Original Movie will make a one day appearence in theaters next week, and after that producers will be going full force into the sequel. Rumor has it Sharknado 2 will take place in New York.
Multiple sources are now reporting that actress Tara Reid has been axed from the sequel. Tara Reid is most known for her role in the American Pie franchise. Despite praise from the cast and crew, and receiving the same paycheck as her opposite lead actor Ian Ziering (an estimated $50,000), Ms. Reid has been “let go” from the upcoming production. Some sources are reporting that Tara was fired from the budding franchise because of her “poor acting performance.”
Now to be fair… Everyone knows Tara Reid isn’t one of the defining actresses of our time. Even more so, everyone knows SyFy Original Movies are known for terrible production value, horrible acting performances, and down right depressing CGI monsters. It’s not really fair to fire Ms. Reid from a subgenre of horror film known for being bad. Unless Tara asked for an out of control raise for Sharknado 2, I think this casting decision is unfair.
But Ms. Reid has appeared in the American Pie franchise three times, “Days of Our Lives,” Cruel Intentions, Van Wilder, “Scrubs,” and 10 horror or scifi flicks; so I doubt it will be very long until we see her beautiful face on our screens again.
