Deadly Beauty: Horror’s Scream Queens and Rising Talent: Hayley Derryberry
“If my name doesn’t sound familiar to you yet, don’t worry it will soon enough. I am from the smallest of small towns in Tennessee called Cowan. I grew up acting on every stage I could set my feet on until I finally got old enough to get out and pursue it on my own. I spent the last few years working in Film and Television in Santa Fe and Albuquerque New Mexico, and now I’ve finally made the big move to Hollywood. So far, it’s all auditions and small jobs, but that doesn’t keep me from being the same crazy character I’ve always been. I expect it will take time. I just have to wait for that one role that was written just for me ’cause no body plays me better than I do. I have no doubt that you’ll be seeing my name in lights very soon so keep a look out!”*
Location: Los Angeles, CA
1. How did you get into the industry?
I started acting in church when I was 7 or 8, I decided I wanted to be a movie star when I was 12, and I started working in the industry when I was 22. Its been a long road but it all started with an intense love of cinema.
2. What Scream Queen inspired you most?
When I watched horror films, while I admired the scream queens on screen, I never saw myself playing their roles. I always wanted to be the bad-ass. So I’d have to say my most inspirational scream queen was Bruce Campbell.
3. What are the next couple projects you are working on?
“Rabid Love” is playing in movie theaters around the country right now as a part of the B-Movie Road Tour and then will be going on dvd and vod after that. I have a small part in a movie called “Zombie Night” which will be premiering on SyFy on Halloween. And I’m flying to Australia in a couple weeks to shoot a post-apocolyptic sci fi film, which I’m super excited about. I’ve also been doing some writing of my own and Rogue Taurus and I are trying to get another project off the ground soon.
