Shockacon Horror and Sci-Fi Convention Info and Events

West Virginia’s very own Shockacon: Horror and Sci-Fi Convention will be taking place in September and if you are like me then you just can not wait for that day to come.  The event will be taking place September 20th – 22nd in Charleston at The Haunted Barn.  Tickets are currently available for pre-order and can be found here!

Tickets are $100 for the VIP which includes a three day pass, a t-shirt, gift bag, 1 haunted tour.  A $40 ticket is a three day pass with one haunted tour.  The $30 is for a three day pass, $15 is for a Friday or Saturday pass, and a $10 is for Sunday only.

The mastermind behind Shockacon, Mike Winland, sent out a press release with the following info:

“ShockaCon will feature celebrity guests from hit genre movies, including: Eugene Clark who played “Big Daddy” in George Romero’s “Land of the Dead,” Danny Hicks who played Jake from “Evil Dead II,” and David Crawford who played Dr Foster from the cult classic “Dawn of the Dead.” Also, several guests are planned from the monstrous hit series (pun intended) “The Walking Dead,” including Nick, Gomez, who played Tomas, Theodus Crane, who played Big Tiny and “Walkers” Savana Jade Wehunt and Jeremy Ambler.

A number of exciting FX professionals from SyFy’s hit show, FaceOff, are also slated to appear and give workshops; West Virginia native, Robert “RJ” Haddy was a contestant on FaceOff season two and will be returning to the Fall 2013 season line-up with another popular contestant, Roy Wooley and both will be at ShockaCon. Other former contestants scheduled are David “House” Greathouse and Beki Ingram. All four will be offering FX makeup applications to ShockaCon attendees.

Shockacon is host to many talented authors and graphic novelists including Danny Boyd, Edward Holsclaw, Robert Tinnell, Jason Pell plus many other award winners from Woodland Press, Burning Bush and Lazie Horse Publishing. Featured movie directors include Jared Cohn from The Asylum and Eamon Hardimon of RazorSharp Productions.

Live entertainment will be hosted by DJ Thunder and will include popular bands and performance acts. The Big Bad, The Renfields, The McGees, HarraH, Foz Rotten and His Dirty Scoundrels, The Nanker Phelge, The Wayward Girls. and The Monster Dolls are all slated to perform.

More than 20 hours of Movie screenings are scheduled, including, “Overtime,” “Atlantic Rim,” “Born Bad,” “Hold Your Breath,” “The Crawling Dead,” “Dead Before Dawn” and ” Dawn of the Dead” and more.

Other sights will include a Batmobile replica, Dr. Who-style mobile Dalek and Tardis replicas, the Garrison Carida 501st Legion authentic Darth Vader and Storm Troopers and The Cemetery Knights’ restored funeral Hearses and custom Zombie Response Vehicles. Additionally, plenty of contests and raffles will give attendees chances to win awesome prizes. Contests include a Monster Lab Makeup Competition, Horror Trivia hosted by Rebecca Mckendry of Fangoria Magazine, a Scream Contest hosted by Bianca Barnett, and Costume Contestsfor adults and children. (FYI: Most events are family-friendly, but adults should use discretion at movie screenings and evening live entertainment acts.)”
