About a year or so ago I came across a page on a horror site talking about a short called The Bible Belt Slasher.  I searched around and could not find any info on the film and slowly forgot about it.  I was very curious of the film because I love watching movies that have any cultural significance to the area I live in.

I have lived in West Virginia my entire life and had family living in Tennessee for a long time so I have traveled extensively throughout what I would call the bible belt so this movie definitely intrigued me.  Recently I have became acquainted with director Bradley Creanzo and he was nice enough to send me a copy of this film to review so a big thank you to Bradley for that.

**Spoiler Alert**So a group of twenty-somethings are having a party and decide to make a couple prank calls.  After one prank call they decide to call someone who they had previously pranked named Jason Fry (Baumer).  Fry is a religious nut and vows vengeance on those that wronged him.

Fry makes his way to their home after one of them spits our their address thinking they were calling for pizza.  Fry makes his way through the group killing and dropping one liners.  However, he lets one escape…**Spoiler Alert**

When I reached out to Bradley Creanzo for The Bible Belt Slasher I was curious to see how the film went.  I will be honest and admit that I did not have much hope for the flick.  However, I was wrong and this short actually stunned me.  The movie was actually a decent micro-budget slasher.  The pacing was off but other than that I really liked it.

The acting is amateurish.  I don’t want to call it bad but it was lacking experience.  However, Baumer did an amazing job in his role and made his character fun as hell to watch.  The story is your typical slasher flick.  Someone was done wrong and kills those that wronged them.  Simple as that.  However, it follows the same trend as other famous slasher flicks and came up with a great theme.  The redneck religious theme worked great.

Finally, the film does offer some great on screen kills but the special effects are lacking.  However, the point of this movie is not to be gory but to be an entertaining throwback to 80’s slashers.  Overall, this is a solid modern throwback to an 80’s slasher that is surprisingly entertaining.  I highly recommend it.
