John Russo to remake MIDNIGHT his terrifying movie, MIDNIGHT, seeking partial funding on Kickstarter.

PITTSBURGH, PA. – Horror Legend, John Russo, long time filmmaker and Co-Creator of the iconic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, is remaking his 1982 film, MIDNIGHT.  He is seeking partial funds for this new film using the popular crowd-funding website, Kickstarter.com.

Russo, who also is credited with a dozen published novels, including MIDNIGHT, has a slew of other horror films under his belt including the original MIDNIGHT, and HEARTSTOPPER, which stars Tom Savini, Moon Zappa and Michael J. Pollard.

“I want to remake this movie (MIDNIGHT) so I can do the things I couldn’t do thirty years ago” says Russo.

Slated cast, according to the Kickstarter campaign, are Cerina Vincent, whose other credits include CABIN FEVER and THE WALKING DEAD TV SERIES, and the band GWAR, who will play a country band in a bar where a fight breaks out, midway through the film.  “We are also working on getting Kurt Angle and also Tony Todd to appear in this film,” says Russo.

Production is expected to begin towards the fall of 2013 and shooting is planned to take place in the state of West Virginia. “West Virginia has a great tax credit program going on right now, and being so close to the Pittsburgh area, it just makes sense to shoot the movie there”, says Co-Producer William Heckman.

MIDNIGHT is aimed at a limited theatrical release in the United States and worldwide distribution in other formats through R-Squared Films out of Reno, NV, and Los Angeles, CA. “Having a distribution deal already in place is a rarity among other films looking for funding via Kickstarter”, continues Heckman.

Some of the rewards for contributions through Kickstarter are: Zombie Dirt from NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD; Executive Producer Credits on the film, as well as a dinner event with the legendary filmmaker John Russo.  Other rewards include T-shirts, shot glasses, speaking roles in the movie, and even tickets to the wrap party once production ends.
