Horror Sales: Percy Jackson, Evil Dead, and Invasion Roswell.

Box Office Numbers, DVD Sales, and Television Viewership for the week of August 2 to August 8, 2013.

Box Office: The new Percy Jackson film debuts in the top 10, but this is only because it was released Tuesday at Midnight. It should have a much higher debut and opening week by next Friday. There shouldn’t be any new entries on this chart until the end of the month.

4 2 The Conjuring $19,115,000 (Total: $114,044,000)
9 Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters $8,857,000
16 14 World War Z $2,729,000 (Total: $196,803,000)
18 13 Monsters University $2,325,00 (Total: $259,487,000)
37 37 The Purge $139,000 (Total: $64,437,000)

DVD Sales: My good source has gone MIA again, so I used another website to get the top 10 films (and any horror/scifi entries) from the week. No sales data were provided.

2 2 The Evil Dead
5 3 Oz The Great and Powerful
6 6 Jack The Giant Slayer
8 7 The Call

Television Viewership: Shark Week looks to have taken a chunk out of almost all of the horror/scifi shows, especially Joe Rogan’s show and Continuum. A special for the new season of Face off aired along with a new SyFy flick Invasion Roswell.
