346402A zombie goes looking for something more important than his next meal. A one hit wonder faces certain death or worse because he refuses to play ‘Free Bird’. An X rated ghost story plays out on the floor of a pornography dubbing stage. A low level drug dealer comes up with the perfect plan to wipe out the competition. A stud in a post- Apocalyptic world has one problem…He’s not up to the job.

These and other stories of the just plain bizarre make up the debut collection of short stories by Former Fangoria magazine writer and New York Times Best Selling Author Marc Shapiro. The collection entitled  High Strangeness, is scheduled to be published as both an e book and print book by independent book publisher Chupa Cabra House on November 1.

The collection ranges from horror, science fiction, fantasy, hyper reality. just plain weird and all points in between and mixes pathos, hope, humor and real characters amid the darkness and carnage. Shapiro, whose list of influences includes Rod Serling, Charles Bukowski, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert Bloch, Harlan Ellison and Ray Bradbury, insists there was no rhyme or reason to the stories in this collection.

“It’s all a very natural process,” relates Shapiro a Monrovia Ca. resident. “I come up with an idea and write the story. I never consider what genre the story is or where I should try and place it. The cool factor is ultimately what’s important to me and hopefully that translates to the reader.

Marc Shapiro, a long time contributor to Fangoria, Starlog and countless other US and international horror and science fiction magazines, is also the author of forty unauthorized celebrity biographies. These include the New York Times Bestseller J.K. Rowling: The Wizard Behind Harry Potter and, most recently books on EL James, the author of the 50 Shades Of Grey books, the late latin singer Jenni Rivera, actress Katie Holmes, pop idol Justin Bieber and football player Tim Tebow. He is also the co author of the autobiography of MMA fighter Tito Ortiz entitled This Is Gonna Hurt. Shapiro is also a published poet, comic book writer and has sold three short form screenplays to filmmakers in the UK, New York and Toronto.
