Review:

Asylum Xperiment touts three haunts, (The House: Home for the Horrordays, Subterranean, and Armageddon: Big Top Terror) but they are really rolled into one huge experience.

To begin, guests are ushered into the house, a creepy Disney Haunted Mansionesque style that’s decked out like the Christmas from Hell.   This extremely extravagantly detailed scene was like something out of, well – Disney.   Guests are led into the main room where we’re told the house rules by the talking portraits of the two head ghouls Dave Link and “Spike” Mike Skodacek.   We’re then led into the dining room all ready for Christmas dinner, but this is no ordinary Christmas feast as everything is rotted and rancid.

Next is a secret passageway to an unstable elevator which leads to the subterranean level where all manner of gruesomeThe Asylum Xperiment image scenes are set up for the unsuspecting guests.  There is a creepy prison scene, a bedroom scene featuring a possessed girl floating above the bed like something out of The Exorcist, and several more sinister scenes of terror.

Finally, we enter Armageddon: Big Top Terror which features a very cool expansive apocalyptic scene with several destroyed cars strewn about with ghoulish clowns lurking all around waiting to scare the bejesus out of you.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Asylum Xperiment haunted house.   The set design is one of the best I’ve seen which really gives the guests something to look at, distracting them from the real terrors that lurk inside, making the scares all the more memorable.   Each scene is magnificently detailed and full of eye candy.  Also, the actors are at the top of their game here, each was full of energy and ready to give the guests their money’s worth of frights.   Each makeup was very high quality adding to the inherent creepiness of the haunt.  Asylum Experiment has to be the biggest value around in haunted houses due to the fact it took nearly a half hour to traverse from start to finish, which is the longest haunt I’ve seen so far this year.  It really gives guests their money’s worth of terror.  Asylum Xperiment is one of the largest and expansive top haunts in the Chicagoland area and definitely worth checking out, highly recommended!

Special thank you to Lisa Molloy for having me out!
