Ultra-Cool ‘Dead Island’ Live Action Trailer From Director Of ‘Hatchet III’, BJ McDonnell!

Dead Island trailer image 2

I know that many of you dead heads out there are very familiar with the Dead Island video game that was released back in 2011.   For those unfamiliar with it, Dead Island is a terrific zombie themed survival game set on a tropical island.   Before that game was even released there was an animated trailer for it that set the gaming world on fire.   The cinematic animated trailer went viral almost immediately by garnering over 12 million views in such a short time.  Based on the success of that trailer, sales for the video game skyrocketed.

Now, almost three years later a live action trailer was recently released by Machinima that mimicks the animated trailer nearly shot-for-shot using the same music, emotion, and action down to the most minute detail.  The live action trailer was directed by BJ McDonnell who recently helmed Hatchet III and will next be directing Penance Lane starring Tyler Mane (Rob Zombie’s Halloween, Compound Fracture).   The live action trailer gives fans a brief glimpse of what the now in development film version at Lionsgate might look like.

Dead Island Game Synopsis

The island of Banoi is a lush, tropical paradise in the South Pacific where its flagship Royal Palms Resort serves as the ultimate getaway for vacationers with money to burn. However, all good things must soon come to an end – and the picturesque resort falls into madness, carnage, and chaos after a mysterious and contagious zombie outbreak claims its once peaceful atmosphere. Cut off from the rest of the world, only four individuals who strangely find themselves immune to zombification have the power to protect the remaining survivors from the horrors of the island, discover what’s really going on, and find a way to escape before their own fatal ends.
