Around here at Horror Society we’re big fans of horror’s best kept secret, Bill Oberst Jr., and here’s to one secret that we hope the whole world discovers.  We’ve got the first one sheet for Oberst Jr.’s upcoming film Circus of the Dead, in which he plays a homicidal serial rapist with a taste for necrophilia, now is that a description or what?  You can check out the official first poster down below.

Look for Circus of the Dead sometime in the spring of 2014.

Plot Synopsis

A man becomes entangled in a deadly morality game when the circus comes to town and a sadistic clown forces him to examine the things in life he takes for granted in the most horrific ways.

From The Press Release

Bill Oberst, Jr., has wrapped a lead role as a necrophiliac clown in Circus of the Dead, and we have some screen grabs from the raw footage, courtesy of director Billy Pon. Oberst describes his character, Papa Corn, as “a homicidal serial rapist with a taste for necrophilia whose day job happens to be as a circus clown. He and his highly disturbed fellow clowns use the circus as cover for some of the darkest and most graphic acts of violence I have ever seen in a script or on a set,” says the actor.

Oberst says the film promises to be bloody, brutal and explicit. “The effects team, led by Marcus Koch and Matthew Ash, has been churning out corpses and body parts non-stop for the entire 5-week shoot,” says Oberst. “We’ve sawed off heads, hands and tongues; stripped the skin off a living man’s face; drooled clown slime on multiple females in varying states of undress and chased a stark naked woman through a parking garage with a real cattle prod. And believe me, that’s the mild stuff. This is balls-out horror.”

Circus of the Dead now heads into post. Director Pon is planning a spring 2014 release. The film also stars Parrish Randall, Brad Potts, Chanel Ryan, Ryan Clapp, Rusty Edwards and Mike Williams. Oberst invites horror fans to support Circus of the Dead by giving it a like on IMDb. “Those likes really help the film’s chances to be widely seen,” says the actor. “If you think you’d be into necrophiliac clowns who’d use your decapitated head as an ashtray, give us a like!”

It’s the tenth feature completion this year for Oberst, an actor whom Variety magazine recently called “chilling” and whose Emmy winning performance in Jason Zada’s viral Facebook app Take This Lollipop has topped 100 million views. Oberst has the lead in Jourdan McClure’s Children of Sorrow, a multiple festival winner slated for an early 2014 release by After Dark Films.
