Random Weird: Woman Sleeps With Dead Husband’s Decomposing Corpse For A Year After He Died!!!

Police line image 2OK, here’s a story that might turn your stomach, but hey, that’s what were all about here.  This is a true story, a woman in Belgium has been sleeping next to her dead husband’s decomposed corpse for one year until authorities made the grisly discovery this week.  Read on for more details and a couple graphic photos if you dare!  One question…do we even want to know why the pictures of the body don’t have any pants on?

According to The Huffington Post, apparently, 79-year-old “Marcel H.” from Liege, Belgium, died back in November 2012 of an asthma attack, according to Carters News Agency. His wife was so upset that she failed to report the death and continued to sleep with the body until Belgian authorities made the bizarre finding on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

According to reports, authorities were led to the apartment because the landlord said the couple hadn’t paid their rent in a year.   You would think the smell would’ve become almost unbearable but according to pathologists, the body had become mummified.

“A body can mummify in a dry, warm environment,” Philippe Boxho, pathologist at the Forensic Center of Liege stated. “It takes at least a week to reach such a state. In this case the body had rotten [sic] in the bed [and] his internal organs had melted and liquefied. … Even though the smell of human decay is quite specific, many people equate that smell to the smell of garbage and once the body has become rotten the smell does decrease significantly.”

As hard as it is to believe, this is not the first time something like this has happened.

In Michigan last year, a woman was found living with her boyfriend’s mummified body months after his death.   She claimed she didn’t want to be alone.
