MGD’s Top 10 Titles of 2013

941287_651735348181678_538452079_n2013 has been a Hell of a year for horror fans! We’ve seen everything from reboots to shark throwing tornados and everything in between! As a reviewer for Horror Society, and a big horror fan, I viewed a lot of titles this year. Below you find my top 10 of 2013, ones I will hopefully watch again and again for years to come. The list is a mix of shorts, indie titles, and straight-to-dvd releases. Let me know if you agree or disagree!

1. Children of The Witch
Director: Frank Sabatella
…Once again Sideshow Pictures prove they are the masters of Halloween.
Final Rating: 9.6 out of 10

2. Truth or Dare
Director: Jessica Cameron
…A scream queen’s directorial debut sets the bar high for future indie torture flicks.
Final Rating: 9.3 out of 10

Director: Mike Mayhall
…Not fully released in the USA yet, but one of the best slasher titles of the year.
Final Rating: 9 out of 10

4. Sick
Director: Ryan M. Andrews
…Bringing innovation and originality to the zombie genre.
Final Rating: 8.7 out of 10

5. Hatchet III
Director: BJ McDonnell
…A bloody, fantastic end the franchise… maybe…
Final Rating: 8.4 out of 10

6. The Black Dahlia Haunting
Director: Brandon Slagle
…A supernatural twist on one of Hollywood’s most notorious murder mysteries.
Final Rating: 8.2 out of 10

7. The Haunting in Connecticut II: Ghosts of Georgia
Director: Tom Elkins
…Leaps and bounds better than the first although they are unrelated.
Final Rating: 8 out of 10

8. The Mooring
Director: Glenn Withrow
…The first horror title where I cared about every single character.
Final Rating: 7.8 out of 10

9. Bad Kids Go To Hell
Director: Matthew Spradlin
The Breakfast Club for a new generation mixed with horror elements.
Final Rating: 7.3 out of 10

10. The Penny Dreadful Picture Show
Director: Nick Everhart, Multiple Others
…For introducing the world to a lovable, new horror hostess.
Final Rating: 7 out of 10
