Sarah Michelle Gellar wins People’s Choice Award, thanks “Buffy” fans.

Sarah Michelle GellarAt last night’s People’s Choice Awards Sarah Michelle Gellar went home as one of the big winners. The Emmy Award Winner and Teen Choice Award Winner slayed the competition and was awarded with the trophy for Favorite Actress in A New Series. This is the first People’s Choice Award of her career.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is most known around the world for playing the role of Buffy Summers in “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and “Angel.” Besides her role in the now iconic series, Sarah has worked a great deal in the horror film industry, having appeared in movies such as I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2, Scooby Doo & Scooby Doo 2 (Ok, I know these aren’t horror, but you get the idea!), The Grudge & The Grudge 2, The Return, Possessed, and even voiced herself in the video game Call of The Dead.

Her acceptance speech was humble and cheery, two things Sarah always exudes. However, during the second half of her speech, Sarah decided to go a different route in thanking her fans…and mentioned a show that she wasn’t nominated for. She is quoted as saying, “For seven years I had the priviledge to be a part of one of the most amazing television shows. And I’ve never gotten the chance to publically thank them: the cast, the crew, and all of the fans of ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer.’ So thank you.”

Sarah Michelle Gellar currently plays opposite Robin Williams in the CBS comedy “The Crazy Ones.”

  1. I was always wondering how she felt about the show as she seemed to distance herself from it towards the end of it but it’s nice to see that she seems to truly appreciate the show and everything it has given her.
