Recap of Horror Society’s Current Affairs

HS

Today Horror Society officially passed 32,000 “likes” on Facebook. The site also has about 34,000 “followers” on Twitter. The tremendous boost in popularity has undoubtedly come from the new hires almost a year ago. Together the four of them have really helped owner Mitchell Wells and myself bring Horror Society to the forfront of indie horror.

With all the latest activity, I wanted to make sure all of our fantastic readers and supporters were able to stay up to date on the current affairs and important “events.” So, I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there…and I’ll tell you all about how I became the Prince of a town called Bell-Air…I mean, let you know what’s going on…

Currently, Horror Society is nearing the end of its 2014 award season. Yes, this little indie website has its own awards ceremony where we highlight the best in the indie genre and stack them against Hollywood’s greatest horror blockbusters. As of yesterday, we’ve received over 5,7000 votes for the awards. If you still haven’t cast your votes, you can do so here. Voting ends on February 28, 2014.

Horror Society also has its first product on the market available for mass release. Horror Society Stories: Volume 1 is currently available on all Amazon sites across the globe. The anthology of ten short horror stories (plus a bonus by the cover artist) managed to chart in the top 48,000 books on Amazon and in the top 50,000 books on Amazon UK. Barbie Wilde from Hellraiser II calls it, “A tasty cocktail of horror that will keep you glued to the page.” Horror Society Stories: Volume 1 is marked down for a limited time. Kindle users can purchase it for $2.99 and paperback copies are available for $10.99. Make your purchases of the book here.

Then there’s the podcast, The Calling Hour, hosted weekly on Horror Society Radio by Michael Christopher Jones of Slit of the Wrist FX. Tomorrow will mark his 18th episode where he will be interviewing blogger/actress Rebekah Herzberg, scream queen icon Tiffany Shepis, and journalist Heidi Martinuzzi. The show starts at 8:00PM EST and you can tune in by clicking here.

Also, we have frequent reviews by Mac Brewer. He’s grown into our top reviewer and is being quoted by outside sources on a weekly basis. From movie trailers, to DVD covers, to porn magazines – Mac is everywhere! Look for his weekly reviews for some of the most honest thoughts on indie horror titles. Mac is also responsible for the Trailer Trash column where he highlights the best in cult trailers you may not have seen.

Speaking of columns, Michael Juvinall is responsible for a daily column that receives tons of views. Every day he combs through material to run “Born on This Day in Horror History,” “Died on This Day in Horror History,” and “Films Released on This Day in Horror History.” If you want to learn a thing or two about horror history, then this man is the one you need to follow!

As always frequent news, reviews, interviews, trailers, and general craziness are constantly blasted out by our commander-and-chief Mitchell Wells, myself (Michael DeFellipo), every contributor mentioned in this post, and Holly Von Doom, the only female in a madhouse of fratmen.

Semi-frequent contributors include book reviewer Kris Lugosi, 28DLA’s Michael Allen, Slasher Studios, and slashernwoods.
