Does Robert Englund deserve a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?

Freddy-Krueger1Do you think Robert Englund deserves a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? If your opinion is no, then there are a ton of people who disagree with you – myself included!

Mr. Englund has appeared in many horror titles including Dead & Buried in 1981, C.H.U.D. 2 in 1989, Dance Macabre in 1992, Night Terrors in 1993, The Mangler in 1995, Wishmaster in 1997, Urban Legend in 1998, 2001 Maniacs in 2005, Hatchet and Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon in 2006, Black Swarm in 2007, Zombie Strippers in 2008, Inkubus in 2011, Strippers vs. Werewolves and Lake Placid: The Final Chapter in 2012, and Sanitarium in 2013.

And let’s not forget that Robert E. played “Freddy Krueger” in all of the eight original movies (Freddy vs. Jason included). The role even got him his own two year series, “Freddy’s Nightmares,” a recording album, a book, and the ranking of #40 Greatest Villain of All Time by the American Film Institution.

Currently there is a campaign on PetitionBuzz that is aiming to get Robert Englund a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It needs 10,000 signatures and as of this writing it has 4,674. Here’s a little blurb from the petition’s page:

“We believe Robert deserves this honor, to have his name on a star on the Walk of Fame. For his many years of performing in TV shows, movies, even on a web series call “Fear Clinic.” Let’s not forget his great memoir “Hollywood Monster: A Walk Down Elm Street with the Man of Your Dreams” book. So if anyone deserves this, it’s Robert! We’re with you, Robert.”

Not to burst anyone’s bubble, but it’s more difficult than just signing a petition. Cassandra Peterson (Elvira, Mistress of the Dark) had fans who created a petition like this one for her own star on the Walk of Fame. From what I remember, people have to pay a five figure fee to get a star placed on the sidewalk. I don’t know if it’s really worth it, but both Rob and Cassandra deserve stars more than some people, IE: Kim Kardashian…
