Wrong Turn 6 gets new director, ‘Scorned’ star Sadie Katz as lead.

I knew it was only a matter of time. For some – myself not included – the Wrong Turn franchise is one that refuses to die! Originally starting as a semi-successful box office movie in 2003, the franchise changed to a direct-to-DVD series beginning in 2007. The last entry, Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines, was released in 2012 and debuted in the top 10 titles during its week in distribution. After taking a year off, it was announced yesterday that Wrong Turn 6 is officially in the midst of principal photography!

I’m not the least bit shocked that Wrong Turn is officially returning for a sixth movie, but I am surprised that Declan O’Brien is not returning to the director’s seat. O’Brien previously directed Wrong Turn 3 through 5. Maybe his involvement with resurrecting the Joy Ride franchise has to do with his absence from the latest entry in Wrong Turn family due this October. Taking over Brian’s role in production will be Valeri Milev, a new-comer to the game who has only directed two films, 2013’s Code Red and Re-Kill. Also, Frank H. Woodward is on board as writer and his previous credits include the “Working With A Master” series.

Filming is currently underway in Bulgaria and cast members who may be frequenting the set include lead actress Sadie Katz (House of Bad, Scorned), Aqueela Zoll (Killjoy Goes to Hell), Chris Jarvis (“The Bill”), Roxanne Pallet (Lake Placid 3), Raymond Steers, Harry Belcher, Anthony Ilott, Luke Cousins, Billy Ashworth, Rollo Skinner, Joe Gaminara, and Tabitha Luke Eardley. Looks to me like production decided to go with a lot of fresh talent this go around. Can’t wait to see what the director, writer, and cast have to bring to the table!

But, here’s hoping one figure returns for some bloodshed… Three-finger! He’s appeared in every entry and I’m dying to see him again in Wrong Turn 6.

A more in-depth release is due in the coming days.
