Where Are They Now? : Diora Baird

DioraBairdWhat do you get when you mix modeling experience with modern day horror and comedic blockbusters? Well, you get Diora Baird! She was born in Florida during April of 1983. Her early careers included working with children as a pre-school teacher and modeling for Guess?. Obviously the latter path lead her to bigger and better things. Diora eventually graced the cover of Playboy in 2005. She was also featured in Maxim’s Hot 100 list in 2007 and 2008, coming in at #76 and #64 respectively. However, Ms. Baird, who is a painter in her free time, was bit by the acting bug, and so our story begins.

Her acting career started off on a generally positive note. Her first on screen credit came courtesy of “The Drew Carey Show” in 2004. She followed up this appearance with larger roles in mega-hit comedies Wedding Crashes (2005) and Accepted (2006). Her first horror credit was in the reboot sequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, her biggest role at the time and in an iconic series none the less!

The following years she continued her success with guest spots on popular television shows including “Shark,” “The Loop,” and “Two and A Half Men” in 2009. Diora had a cameo in the new Star Trek movie in 2009 right before her supporting role in the Night of The Demons remake later that year. Finally, she finished out the decade with a lead role in the horror-comedy Stan Helsing.

So, where is she now?

Kicking off the decade with a bang, Ms. Baird had a cameo in the odd-ball comedy Hot Tub Time Machine and another supporting role in 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, a straight-to-DVD sequel to the original film with Josh Hartnett. She also returned to television with guest spots on “Psych” and “Shameless.”

Things began slowing down for Diora towards the end of 2011. Why? Well, she became pregnant with her second child and gave birth to a healthy baby in January of 2012. The father, her husband, is “CSI Miami” star Jonathan Togo. Still, she managed to get some acting in – having continued her reoccurring role on “Shameless” and doing a suspense-thriller called Riddle in 2013.

With looks that can kill and an accomplished resume of popular horror films and A-list comedies, I don’t think it will be long before Diora Baird makes a full return to the acting world. I think we can all cut her some slack and show support while she devotes time to her growing family. But, when her return is announced, I hope it’s with a new horror title!
