Horror Society’s MGDSQUAN interviews ‘Bitten’ executive producers during Reddit AMA.

With the Canadian finale of “Bitten” airing tonight and the American finale airing on Monday, the creators of the werewolf television series based on the books by Kelley Armstrong are pulling out all the stops in promotion of the final episode of season one. “Bitten” is already a huge hit in Canada – it was reported earlier this week that “Bitten” is the #1 new show on Space Channel – and I think the production team wants to make sure they can captivate as many new American viewers as they can before the show goes into hiatus before new episodes *hopefully* begin production.

The promo train began on Thursday, with lead actors Laura Vandervoort (Elena), Greyston Holt (Clay), and Grey Bryk (Jeremy) conducting a press conference with media outlets over the phone. Horror Society was honored to be invited and yours truly was able to listen in on the first twenty or so minutes, which happened to include Mr. Bryk escaping to another location to avoid fire trucks. Hilarious. Unfortunately, I had to end my part in the conference early in favor of being on time for my job interview (which I think I got, btw!). I passed the call over to another Horror Society reporter, Michael Juvinall, who finished the conference and was even able to ask the trio a question.

Still, I was definitely bummed out that I missed an opportunity to talk with an important, key players in the “Bitten” series. That’s when I remembered that Daegan Fryklind and J.B. Sugar, two executive producers from the show, were conducting a Reddit AMA! Daegan has also served on “Bitten” as a show-writer and J.B. as a second unit director. For those of you who are unaware, a Reddit AMA is basically a message board where industry or important people can create usernames that are personal information free and interact on the board by posting response messages to other users. Oh, and the AMA stands for ask me anything. When I remembered the Reddit AMA, I threw myself back on the computer – almost burning the house down in the process – and scurried onto Reddit to see if the two “Bitten” executive producers would answer some of my questions.

They did. And here are the interactions.

Of course I started by asking them about plot decisions while making “Bitten,” whether to stick to the books or forge their own path. And then I had to ask about the she-wolf wannabe Amber. Was I the only one wondering what happened to her?

When I saw they answered me so quickly I obviously had to keep asking. Now was my chance! My favorite television shows of all time go in this order – “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” “The Walking Dead,” and “Bitten.” You’d have to be blind if you didn’t see parallels between Elena and Buffy. One female werewolf in the whole world/one girl in all the world. Super strength, love triangles, blondes – it goes on and on. Elena is my second favorite scifi heroine next to Buffy. So, I had to ask. If the women ever ended up throwing down, who would win? The hilarious answer below says it all. #crossgenrelove

Then I wanted to know if either producer has ever stepped in front of the camera for a little cameo. They are already super important, so why not, right?

The season one finale of “Bitten” is just hours away, but I’m already salivating with anticipation over the DVD release? I should have asked when fans can expect the DVD set of season one, but instead I asked what extra content would be available on it. Maybe we should all do a #BittenDVD hasthtag on Twitter to send in our ideas for featurettes?

Horror Society is lucky to have readers from all over the world. Since “Bitten” is my favorite guilty pleasure this year, I decided to ask an important question for our international readers – when can you guys expect to see the show airing in your country. Looks like horror enthusiasts in Denmark, France, Norway, and Sweden will get to watch the show next!

I ended my part in the Reddit AMA by hurling a bunch of compliments at Daegan Fryklind and J.B. Sugar. I meant every single one. I am so grateful that they took the time to answer so many of my questions and it was an honor to talk to such integral parts of the “Bitten” team. They just seem so down to earth and our little message board chat was the highlight of my week.

I just want to thank Laura, Greyston, Greg, Daegan, and J.B. for inviting me into their world, only if for an hour or so.

The “Bitten” season one finale airs tonight in Canada on the Space Channel and Monday in America on the SyFy Channel! Tune in for the climactic war between The Danvers Pack and The Mutts!
