I usually hear about movies from two different sources.  Sometimes I will spend hours browsing Facebook and amazon.com for movies I have never heard of before.  This usually results in some interesting finds that I would never hear of any other way due to lack of funding for marketing.  The other way is just by word of mouth. I am a member of several horror related groups on Facebook and I often hear different people talk about the same films over and over again.

Some films get a lot of attention but it does not spark any real interest from myself so I will avoid them or refuse to waste money on them until I get the opportunity to see them for free.  That sums up my experience with Thantaomorphose perfectly.  Several people in these groups praised this film but it just looked like an extreme horror flick meets a Wal-Mart generic horror flick.  Nothing about this film interested me but reviewer Zombie13 decided that I needed to see this one and sent me his copy to review.  So after some time I popped this French-Canadian horror flick in and gave it a chance.

**Spoiler Alert**The film follows a young woman who never leaves her apartment and her life is consumed by sex.  If she is not fucking someone she is flicking her bean. One night after some rough sex she notices some bruises spread throughout her entire body.  Overtime she notices that her body is not healing but is actually rotting from the inside. Instead of visiting a doctor and seeking medication she embraces her sexually and continues her sexual conquests as a oozing time bomb.**Spoiler Alert**

One of the reasons I avoided this flick is because I assumed it was a film filled with blood and gore and had no real story.  Those are the kinds of films I hate.  A filmmaker will take a bucket of gore, film a movie, and forget the story to tie it all together.  I love gore but it has to fit the storyline otherwise the gore is pointless.  When I started watching this one I quickly new that was indeed the case.  The film focused more on being crude and disgusting that it completely forgot it had a story to tell…even though it was so damn simplistic.  The film decided to skip on the story (which could have been fucking amazing if handled properly) and went straight for the special effects.  However, the special effects are award winning.

If you paid attention to anything I had written earlier then you noticed the film was filled with blood, guts, and bodily fluids instead of story.  With all this being the center points of the film the cast and crew had to make the special effects look flawless and damn if they did.  Every scene and every gag looked great.  I honestly wish the film had a little more story to go along with the special effects so they would not go unnoticed.

Finally, the film has decent acting.  To be honest, the cast did just enough to make the scenes work but did not showcase all their experience and talent.  Overall, Thanatomorphose is a truly disgusting film that is bloody for the sake of being bloody.  The film has no story to tell but still needs to be seen due to the quality of special effects the film showcases.  Check it out but please don’t waste your money on it.
