DEAD SPACE Review

DeadSpace

Dead Space is a survival horror game created by Visceral Games in 2008. Since its creation has become a huge success with two more sequels to the main story, multiple spin-off games and two animated films. This gore filled series has become well known within the gaming community and horror fans.

In Dead Space you play as Issac Clarke, a ship engineer who is sent with a small crew to locate the USG Ishimura which is a large mining ship after all communications from it stopped. Issac volunteered for the job due to the fact that his girlfriend Nicole was working as medical staff on the ship. Normally most horror games like to slowly build up suspense, not this game right when the cut scene is over its time to run from some horrifying looking monster called Necromorphs. Once the chase is over, you end up finding your new best friend…. Your weapon, the plasma cutter.

One thing about Dead Space is the habits you’ll learn to use like:

· Don’t trust the vents.

· Dismember the limbs.

· Head shots don’t work.

· Always watch your health monitor.

After you pick up the plasma cutter, You continue to make your way through the new found hell in search to find your girlfriend and find a way off the ship. Now don’t worry you’re going to acquire other weapons later on in the game and have the ability to upgrade your suit and weapon systems. As you venture further into the blood splattered corridors, begin you discover how this nightmare started in the first place. After a couple of hours of gameplay and plot dialogue later, Issac ends up on the planet surface for the final boss battle.

The Dead Space series is one of my all time favorites, great story, leaves you on edge with jump scares, and great atmospheric environments. My only complaint for Dead Space is the time spent wasted back tracking. Other than that Dead space is a perfect game for horror junkies or people looking for a good scare. Dead Space is available on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
