Eliza Dushku Returns to the Horror Genre in ‘Eloise!’

elizadushkureturnsAnd I just had a heart attack.

Eliza Dushku has been one of my favorite actresses on the planet since she played the role of Faith Lehane on “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and “Angel from 1998 to 2003. Since leaving the iconic television series, Ms. Dushku has come into her own as an actress while pursuing many horror/scifi roles including the lead roles in Wrong Turn, “Tru Calling,” and “Dollhouse,” as well as Soul Survivors, The Alphabet Killer, and Open Graves. However, earlier this month I noted that Eliza had been missing from our favorite genre for the last few years and I desperately hoped for her return.

Well, my prayers have been answered!

It was just announced this morning that Eliza Dushku will be headlining a new horror psychological horror film called Eloise.

Eloise is written by Christopher Borrelli (The Marine 2) and will be directed by Robert Legato (“Star Trek”) when cameras start to roll on May 5, 2014. Other cast members destined to star alongside Dushku are Chace Crawford (“Gossip Girl,” The Covenant), Brandon T. Jackson (Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters), and P.J. Byrne (Final Destination 5, The Wolf of Wall Street). Noteworthy horror producers Sean Gowrie (Straw Dogs, Shark Night 3D, The Unborn) and Tripp Vinson (The Number 23, The Rite, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) will also be working behind the scenes of this movie.

According to DreadCentral, the plot follows, “Four friends break into the abandoned institution in hopes of finding a death certificate, which will provide Jacob (Crawford) with the rights to a sizable inheritance. While inside the asylum, the group not only finds that the institution houses a horrifying history but also the truth about their own tragic pasts.”

I’m so excited for Eloise. I’ve been literally dying to see Eliza Dushku in another big budgeted horror title again. I’ll be keeping everyone up to date on this feature film as it progresses.
