Alright kiddies, there’s yet another zombie opus on the horizon, this time Screen Gems is on the search for Patient Zero. News comes in today they have set a director for this new spin on the zombie tale. Stefan Ruzowitzky (Anatomy) will helm the story of a global pandemic where a new species of rabies infected human predators are out for blood and the search is on for Patient Zero to find the cure. Deadline is reporting, Screen Gems has set Stefan Ruzowitzky to direct Patient Zero, a Mike Le-scripted thriller that puts a new spin on the zombie film.
In Patient Zero, an unprecedented global pandemic has resulted in the evolution of a new species. An aggressive form of rabies turns the infected into predators, addicted to violence. An inexplicably gifted human survivor with the ability to speak their new language spearheads a hunt for Patient Zero in order to find a cure to save his infected wife and humanity.
Production will begin in the summer, most probably in Germany.
