I’m still very excited that Eliza Dushku is tackling a new horror film with Eloise. It’s her first role in this particular genre since 2009’s Open Graves. Cameras officially began rolling on principal photography on May 7, 2014 with filming expecting to last about two months. Luckily, social media sites like Facebook and Twitter are providing updates for horror fans who are anticipating this feature film as much as I am. For example, I learned from searching #Eloise that the movie has an estimated budget of about $3,000,000. This makes me hopeful that it will make it to theatres so I can see Eliza on the big screen once again.

Here are other tidbits of information in regards to Eloise that I found on livefeeds, and the behind-the-scenes photos that went along with them.

According to DreadCentral, the plot follows, “Four friends break into the abandoned institution in hopes of finding a death certificate, which will provide Jacob (Crawford) with the rights to a sizable inheritance. While inside the asylum, the group not only finds that the institution houses a horrifying history but also the truth about their own tragic pasts.”

Eloise is written by Christopher Borrelli (The Marine 2) and is currently being directed by Robert Legato (“Star Trek”). The main cast members starring alongside Dushku are Chace Crawford (“Gossip Girl,” The Covenant), Brandon T. Jackson (Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters), and P.J. Byrne (Final Destination 5, The Wolf of Wall Street). Noteworthy horror producers Sean Gowrie (Straw Dogs, Shark Night 3D, The Unborn) and Tripp Vinson (The Number 23, The Rite, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) will also be working behind the scenes of this movie.

Since my last Eloise update, several new cast members have been confirmed. They include Martin Klebba (Feast, “Scrubs”), Nicole Forester (“Guiding Light,” “Chicago Fire”), Milica Govich, Ricky Wayne, and Mary Jo Cuppone. Scott Kodrik is confirmed as heading the special effects department and his previous credits include Mortal Kombat, Batman & Robin, and From Dusk Til Dawn 2.

Filming is taking place at the actual Eloise Insane Asylum in Michigan. An interesting plot point added to IMDB shines a little more light on the sinister location. “The film is shot on location in the real Eloise Insane Asylum, which used to be one of the largest mental institutions in the world. It began as one building in Westland, Michigan in 1832, before rapidly growing into a 78-building complex, complete with its own fire and police departments, train station, post office and farms. The asylum finally closed in 1982, and has since been used as many things such as a daycare center, a homeless shelter, and a business office. Many of the outlying buildings such as the bakery, firehouse, tavern, and powerhouse are in ruins beyond repair.”
